About Ron Perfetti
[ Photo Gallery ]
Ron was born in New York City on Feb. 2, 1949. He graduated from
Adelphi University in New York with a B.A. in History and Political
Science.
After a number of years studying other martial arts, Ron began his
study of T'ai Chi Ch'uan in 1973. He subsequently studied with a number of
the world's acknowledged T'ai Chi masters and is certified to teach T'ai
Chi Ch'uan by Grandmaster William C.C. Chen of New York City and Chi Kung and
Taoist meditation by Dr. Stephen Chang of San Francisco. His other
teachers have included Master Benjamin Lo of San Francisco, Master
Abraham Liu of San Diego, and Master B.P. Chan of New York City. Ron's experience
also includes a semester of study at the College of Traditional Chinese
Medicine in Beijing, China, 1985, specializing in T'ai Chi Ch'uan and
Chi Kung practice.
Ron began teaching actively in 1976, and taught full time for over 17 years. He founded and directed the Hawaii T'ai Chi Ch'uan Association,
a non-profit organization that oversees ongoing
classes, workshops and seminars on
Maui, in Hawaii, and worldwide. Today, the Association continues all of its instructional and educational activities under the direction of senior instructors whom Ron appointed and trained.

Although Ron had a firm foundation in the martial
art aspect of T'ai Chi, he chose to place
his primary teaching emphasis on the health and
personal growth aspects of the study. His workshops
included such diverse specific interest
groups as fitness instructors, medical doctors,
senior citizens, Viet Nam Vets, athletes, and
others who derive value from the simple yet profound
practice of T'ai Chi.
Ron Perfetti passed away May 16, 2012.

Ron left this world as he had lived in it: with extraordinary strength, kindness, wisdom, and grace.
Sifu Perfetti left with us his mastery as a teacher through his extraordinary instructional materials; he gave us still more guidance and knowledge through the extensive content of this website; and he left the Hawaii T'ai Chi Ch'uan Association — the non-profit teaching organization he founded in 1981 — in the talented and skillful hands of master instructors whom he had personally taught for many years.
But above all, Ron left us his light. That light burns through generations
of students;
it warms the hearts of loved ones, colleagues, and friends;
it illuminates everyone he touched.
